Cone beam computed tomography is the most frequently used 3 dimensional technique by dentists although it is useless in imaging due to poor contrast resolution and yields images with high noise compared to multi detector computed tomography and cannot provide objective numerical values such as Hounsfield Unit. Studies have reported that it is used by dentists even if cone beam computed tomography is not indicated as they are not familiar with other imaging methods and due to poor anatomy knowledge. The purpose of this presentation is to present cases to discuss the imaging of temporomandibular joint, assessment of soft tissue lesions and intraosseos tumoral lesions, early diagnosis of MRONJ, early diagnosis of malignancies where cone beam computed tomography does not provide proper images in dentistry practice and specialities and to increase the familiarity of dentists with other imaging methods.
